| Surface cleaning of grain painted doors of 19th century grain painted yellow pine corner cupboard. Utilizing modern methods of surface cleaning through organic chemistry can remove dirt and grim from the original finish without intrusive damage. Left side of left panel pre -treatment, right side of left panel cleaned, still retains original paint pigments and protective varnish, note some pigment loss due to age and wear. Right door post treatment pigment losses in painted and varnish coat rebuilt to achieve visual harmony. All treatments are reversible. |
